Summary

PURPOSE: The purpose of this case series is to evaluate visual acuity outcomes of full visual range intraocular lens (IOL) in mild glaucoma patients underwent cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

METHODS: This retrospective case series included patients underwent cataract surgery and MIGS with a full visual range IOL (enVista Envy, EN, Bausch & Lomb) implantation. Clinical endpoints collected were uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UDVA/CDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), as well as pre and post-operative IOP. Adverse events were also collected.

RESULTS: 18 eyes of 13 patients with glaucoma underwent combined Phaco with MIGS including BANG (13), istent (3) and GSL (2), and implantation of the FVR IOL. Average age was 71, with 92% Caucasians, including 10 females and three males. Average CCT was 550 microns, MD was -4.0dB, PSD 3.0, GC-IPL 73 microns and RNFL 83 microns. Patients were on average on 1.2 glaucoma meds pre-operatively with a mean IOP of 18.0 mmHg. At the post-op 1 month visit, average UDVA was 20/20, UIVA 20/25 and UNVA 20/40, with a MRSE of 0.12 and an IOP of 15.3 mmHg on 0.1 topical meds.

CONCLUSION: In carefully selected patients with well controlled mild glaucoma, the implantation of a FVR IOL at the time of combined cataract and MIGS surgery resulted in decreased IOP, as well as an excellent uncorrected distance visual acuity, as well as good functional uncorrected intermediate and near visual acuity.
